Why Blog and What's in it for You!
Blogs are an insightful way of gaining knowledge and skills about any specific information. With an abundance of news being created daily, blog sites provide you the opportunity to narrow your search to any particular area you are interested in learning. In the YouTube video, “Blogs in Plain English,” blogs allow anyone to create an outlet for sharing news and ideas effortlessly. At the reach of your electronic device, you can learn and expand your knowledge in any specific area or blog news for others to read.
I have been assigned to create a Blog on Instructional
Design resources that would be beneficial in my journey in learning the skills,
knowledge, and tricks of the Instructional Design world. As Ferriter (2009)
states, individuals can learn and be exposed to more professional growth
through viewing blog resources, ideas, and strategies in a short amount of time.
By reading others’ materials, you can be introduced or inspired to implement
strategies that have worked for others. Other bloggers have already paved the
way; therefore, you, as a beginner, can gain insightful information that can be
vital in your career.
Writing your own blogs can also be empowering to expand your
learning process. Ferriter (2009) further explains that individuals who read
your blog and leave comments can challenge your thinking. By reading the
comments left behind, bloggers can decipher their thoughts and adapt and change
based on what they see as essential.
Here are my top blog sites for Instructional Designs!
My Top Three Instructional Design Blogs and Resource
Sites
The Rapid E-Learning Blog
The
Rapid E-Learning Blog | Practical, real-world tips for e-learning success.
(articulate.com)
Tom Kuhlmann’s Blog provides various articles to read up on
tips and strategies for building E-learning. The blog offers a section for
other Free E-learning resources such as free vector images and music, which
will be valuable for creating e-learning solutions. Tom also provides sites for
E-learning job opportunities, which will help me when I am ready to enter the market
for Industrial Design. The only downside I would say is that Tom does block
comments suggestion. You can only email the blogger directly if you have a
comment to say.
The E-Learning Coach:
Helping you design smarter learning experiences.
The eLearning Coach
- For designing smarter learning experiences
Connie Malamed’s blog provides you with videos, visual
design checklists, other e-learning tips on designing PowerPoint slides into
e-learners, among other resources to learn and build your skills. I enjoy that
Connie provides a podcast of other instructional designer seasoned experts for
you to listen to and learn from. With her easy-to-use checklist, you can also ensure
you have everything you need to cover, which a new person in this field would not
have thought of. Since Connie allows you to leave comments on her articles, she
offers a more interactive experience to connect with her.
eLearning Industry: online Education Blog
This
resource site accommodates an abundance of authors in the E-learning Industry. The
articles that are available range from sales training, human resource
management to gamification. Therefore, depending on the type of e-learning
solutions you are creating, you can pinpoint the author in your specific realm. This
site also allows you to register for webinars of various topics, which encourages
you to stay updated and knowledgeable on new approaches in the Instructional
Design world.
That concludes my top three resource sites. I hope you enjoyed
visiting these sites and can add to your collection of useful resources!
